Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

When the nerve in a tooth dies, or becomes infected, we will discuss all your options with you, in order to alleviate the problem.

One option we will discuss, in order to try and save the tooth, is to carry out a Root Canal Therapy.  This involves removing the infected nerve, placing a dressing to help clear up the remaining infection, then packing the nerve canals with a sterile rubber filling, before sealing up the cavity.  This is usually carried out over two or three appointments.

The urban myth of root canal therapy been amongst the worst of life’s experiences need not be true.  When carefully executed, a root filling need not be a traumatic experience. In most cases, you will not need to attend a specialist, as we have the skills and equipment to carry out the vast majority of root fillings on-site.  If you are a particularly complex case, we would of course give you the option of attending a specialist Endodontist, in order to ensure the best possible long term prognosis.
