Sharing the Love

Well, what a difference a month can make.

I am writing to introduce our two new (amazing) dentists.

Apparently, word is out about just how fantastic Dr Martin Webb (our practice principle) is. As a result of his popularity, and his external commitments to the Dental community in Australia, his waiting list had become quite something to behold! While it’s a lovely problem to have, it’s still a problem.

After almost two years of uncertainty around Covid-19 and the potential (and reality) of snap lockdowns, we made the decision to find some extra expertise to look after our wonderful (very patient) patients.

Our challenge has always been finding a dentist with the right experience, the right personality, and the right dental philosophy to fit into our fiercely independent, patient centric dental practice. Apparently the universe was listening to our pleas to find just the right person to help us provide the dental experience we are so rightly proud of.

Low and behold, we have found not one, but two Goldilocks Dentists.

Introducing Dr Patrick Maher Allan and Dr Laura Gubbins.

Dr Patrick Maher Allan

Hailing from North Queensland, Patrick graduated with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University in 2014.

He was one of 100 dental graduates nationwide to be offered a place in the Voluntary Dental Graduate Year Program. As a result, Patrick spent 18 months servicing remote communities.

Giving back is in Patrick’s DNA.  When not working at Banksia House Dental, he is working part time with Queensland Health as a Dental Officer.

Patrick is subscribed to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. In all his spare time, he also holds an Associate Lecturer position with the University of Queensland. Patrick enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and prides himself on practicing patient-centered care.  This makes him a perfect fit at Banksia House Dental.

Patrick has a no nonsense approach to his dentistry. His consultation style is very upfront and informative.

Outside of work, Patrick is an avid supporter of the North Queensland Cowboys (oh well… nobody’s perfect). He is also a keen guitarist and loves fishing on the weekends.

Dr Laura Gubbins

Dr Laura Gubbins

Laura obtained her Bachelor of Dental Science from Trinity College in Dublin, graduating in 2002.

Laura strives to ensure patients are cared for in a kind, compassionate and gentle manner.  Her beautiful lilting accent is instantly reassuring.

Her patients absolutely love her.  Laura doesn’t have happy patients… she has raving fans!

Since graduating, Laura has continued to participate in professional development courses in order to provide her patients with the best possible ongoing care.

When she isn’t busy treating patients (or eating her body weight in muffins! Shhh don’t tell anyone!), Laura enjoys yoga and Pilates. Laura also loves walking and has completed a 900km walk in Spain – the Camino de Santiago. Most recently Laura walked from Rainbow Beach to Noosa – the Cooloola Great Sandy Walk (very sandy as it turns out)!

We are so so pleased to welcome these two amazing, really lovely, very skilled, dentists into the Banksia House Dental Family.
